Description

The Moon is the 5th largest natural satellite in our Solar System and is the largest relative to its primary planet. Geology is driven by impact cratering and volcanism… the Moon has a crust, mantle, and core. Since there is no atmosphere there is no erosion. Features like Mare Serenitatis (419 mi in diameter) and Mare Crisium (345 mi in diameter) were formed via asteroid impacts, then filled with lava from subsequent volcanic eruptions.
